Created in 1940, La Coop Agrilait of St-Guillaume offers a whole line of services relating to animal and crop production, as well as grain transactions. The cooperative society was created by milk farmers after the Depression that lasted more than ten years in the late 30's, milk farmers of the area of Saint-Guillaume, Québec, wanted to control the sales of their product to maximize their benefits.
That's when approximately 50 milk farmers decided to form a cooperative society of Saint-Guillaume. These shareholders built a brand new butter and cheese factory that began production in 1940.
During the following years, the coop of Saint-Guillaume, now known as La Coop Agrilait, has developed numerous agricultural services such as distribution of mineral fertilizers, crop seeds, pesticides and livestock feed. Today, the Coop Agrilait processes its St-Guillaume Cheese Dairy, more than twenty million litres of milk annually into different kinds of cheeses, such as Cheddar, Brick, Monterey Jack, Swiss, and salted curled-style cheese curd. St-Guillaume Brick cheese is not only tastier than the popular Mozzarella, but it also spreads better, and will not burn when heated.
Being lactose-free, Brick cheese can be used in different ways because it has superior cooking qualities to other cheeses. St-Guillaume Brick cheese can be enjoyed several ways: Some people like it in cubes or triangular-shaped pieces; others prefer it in slices and put it into a sandwich or a hamburger.
Try it on a pizza or “raclette”, your taste buds will tell you to come back for more and more! Besides, Agrilait is one of the top-rated employers in the Drummondville region of Quebec. Whether it's for its milk processing plant, its hardware store, or for the services it offers in the areas of agricultural and crop production, Agrilait is often in search of qualified people who want a high quality job working with a team of skilled professionals.
