Historic Site Banc-de-Peche-de-Paspebiac
This historic site invites visitors to discover one of the most important events that have shaped the economic development of the Gaspe Peninsula.
The Paspébiac Bank historic site tells the story of the evolution of the fishing industry in Gaspesie since late 18th century, when the Robin family established its fishing facilities here. Later, in the 19th century, the LeBoutillier family came at Papebiac.
These two companies left their mark in Gaspesie, and their presence still haunts these lands. The historic site of Banc-de-Peche-de-Paspebiac includes a dozen of patrimonial buildings featuring very rich architectural heritage that bears witness to the uniqueness and authenticity of the site.
Visitors will learn about the role of the region in the development of the fishing industry in the Gulf of the St. Lawrence, as well about ingenuity, courage and tenacity of the people who built the site and worked here.
