St. Fidele

St. Fidele is a lovely town located in Charlevoix Region, about 12 miles drive from downtown of La Malbaie. It’s a former municipality which has merged with the Pointe-au-Pic, Riviere-Malbaie, Cap-a-l'Aigle and Sainte-Agnes to create the large La Malbaie City.

The town sits perched on a high plateau overlooking the St. Lawrence River. St. Fidele was founded in 1855. At that time the village included the communities of Saint-Raphaël de Cap-à-l'Aigle, Saint-Siméon and Saint-Firmin de Baie-Sainte-Catherine.

Today, it’s often cited as the home of the famous Fromagerie Saint-Fidele, a cheese factory founded in 1902. Its reputation lives on to our days.

Nature lovers and hikers would like to plan a stop at the Ecological Centre of Port-au-Saumon. In summer this Center invites boys and girls aged 7 to 18 to spend one, two ou three weeks and discover different aspects related to environmental & natural sciences. Among the themes offered, are ecology camps, astronomy camps and a counselor-training program. Aside from scientific activities, the young also take part in a variety of social and sporting activities, such as archery, outdoor rock climbing, swimming in in-ground pool, forest games, field games, campfire related fun and much more. All activities are supervised by the camp's qualified and dynamic staff. The center is certified by the Camps Association of Quebec.
