Snowmobiling in Abitibi-Temiscamingue
Winters here are sunny, snowy and dry, thus nature lovers who thrive on hikes under the sun or in the moonlight, skiers, snowmobilers and adventurers alike, all know how to savour the superb season.
Year after year, en ever-increasing number of snowmobilers from everywhere travel Abitibi-Temiscamingue 3,700 kilometres (more than 2,000 miles) of trails. These trails are laid out on the outskirts of towns or they can cross some of them.
They roam through the heart of a dense and wild forest that changes from vast plains to rolling hills. Snowmobile buffs may partake in the countless events that liven up winter in each area of the region. Abitibi-Temiscamingue is accessible via the Trans-Quebec network of snowmobile trails, from the regions that border it.
A number of tourist companies offer snowmobiling packages. Several agencies own fleets of dozens of snowbobiles, sleds and sleighs, as well as all of the clothing needed, such as suits, vests, helmets, mittens and boots. They rent equipment on half-day, full-day, weekend or even monthly basis.
Snowmobile packages include accommodations, meals, guides tours and much more. For example, vacationers are offered fishing trips or dogsled excursions.
