Geomorphologic sites of Chibougamau City represent spectacular rock formations which reveal how this land was formed.
The formations are the oldest on the planet Earth. They were created as a result of the shock of cold water meeting hot lava. Thus small rocky cushions appeared. Now, they make up Leblanc Par, Allard Park and Souvenir Park.
Visitors can observe blocks of stratified lava, polished by the passage of glaciers. Besides, the rock formations of Souvenir Park made of stromatolites support the theory of a single original continent since these fossils are also found around the Equator.
Guided tours are possible. These tours are offered by the Chibougamau Economic and Tourist Commission.
