Hunting and fishing

Throughout the years, Abitibi-Temiscamingue Region has earned itself an enviable reputation for its hunting and fishing. Indeed, its game abounding forests and teeming lakes are a real guarantee of successful expedition. Professional outfitters help people find the adventure worth a journey to the region.

About a dozen outfitters, with exclusive rights among the largest in Quebec and more than ninety outfitters without exclusive rights operate over the whole territory of the Abitibi-Temiscamingue. Connoisseurs will observe that moose, black bear, small game are among the hunter’s prizes, whereas anglers will look mainly at walleye, pike, speckled trout and lake trout. Don’t forget than in Quebec a permit is mandatory for hunting and fishing.

Permits are available at authorized outlets, sport shops and convenience stores, as well as at various (not all!) outfitters. To hunt migratory birds, in addition to Quebec small game hunting permit, a Federal permit is required. To help preserve nature, animals and fish, we all should fight against poaching.
