Beauce Historical Society
The Beauce Historical Society (Société du patrimoine des Beaucerons) has been created by people devoted to the study of the history and conservation of the archives of the Beauce region, such as textual documents, photos, publications, audio and visual documents and more.
The collections include interesting historical artefacts which are brought to life by local enthusiasts. In fact, its collections of photographs made of more than 640 000 pieces, are among the largest in Quebec.
The Society is dedicated to presenting exhibitions and fostering research that reveal the dynamism of history of the Beauce Region and its influence on Quebec. Founded in 1976, its holdings cover many years of history.
Actually, Beauce Historical Society is the most important historical and genealogical research center in Beauce area, and its expertise makes it a highly recognized organization beyond the Beauce boundaries.
A vast collection of books on local, regional and national history, genealogy directories complete the vast array of research tools. Beauce Historical Society is one of the most attended archives center outside urban areas in Quebec, where private archives may be found. Thousands of researchers come to the center in order to find out secrets of the past. The Society is located in the Maison de la Culture de Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce.
