Lennoxville-Ascot Historical and Museum Society

Lennoxville-Ascot Historical and Museum Society was founded in 1970 in order to record, study, and promote the heritage of the Lennoxville-Ascot area of the Eastern Townships.

The Society occupies the second floor of the Uplands Cultural and Heritage Centre, a neo-Georgian home, located in the heart of Lennoxville since 1862. The Centre includes: a permanent exhibition room - a Victorian parlour and temporary exhibition halls focusing on local heritage themes.

The Society conserves about 3,000 objects, including an extensive collection of clothing and other textile items, toys, photographic equipment, tools, porcelain and silver artefacts, as well as works of art. The Archives of the Society feature material on the Lennoxville-Ascot area and the Eastern Townships.

The Archives also include extensive genealogical reference material. Lennoxville-Ascot Historical and Museum Society also manages the workshop in the Uplands Red Barn, located on the property. Regular thematic exhibitions on the heritage of the Lennoxville-Ascot area are organised, as well as monthly activities with lectures and guest speakers.
