Adstock

Adstock is a rather small municipality of about 3,000, located in the Chaudiere-Appalaches Region. It occupies the total area of 290 square kilometres (about 112 sq miles) and is part of the Appalachians County.

The new municipally of Adstock was created in 2001, after the amalgamation of Saint-Methode-de-Frontenac, Sacre-Coeur-de-Marie-Partie-Sud and Sainte-Anne-du-Lac. Adstock is named after the village of Adstock, located in Buckinghamshire, England. Its topography is fairly rough.

Most of its residents speak French as their first language. In fact, its history dates back to 1888, when a parish of Saint-Methode-d’Adstock was established here. It changed its name to Saint-Methode-de-Frontenac, in 1945.

A famous mountain Mont-Adstock of 710 metres, part of the Appalachian Mountains, is located here. It’s a well-known ski resort of Quebec and a great recreational center for the whole family.
