Founded in 1661, Sainte-Famille Village is the oldest community, located on Orleans Island, a large island, 34 km long by 8 km wide; just about 20 minutes drive from Quebec City.

Visitors can admire here the greatest concentration of stone houses, going back mostly to the French regime period (New France).

Right in the heart of the village, in front of the church, dating back to 1743, tourists can visit the "Couvent de la Congregation de Notre-Dame" (Congregation Monastery), established by Marguerite Bourgeois in 1685.

Till present, the farming industry is important in Sainte-Famille. Breeding also plays an important role, and in autumn, many orchards open up for the people to pick up their own apples.
