Guyenne is a small village located in the Abitibi-Temiscamingue Region, close to La Sarre.
As a community, it is part of the city of Amos. Guyenne has a population of about 150 and it’s renowned for its Greenhouses de Guyenne.
This project came to be in 1980 as a project to save the village which was near closing in the 1970s. At first, this co-op produced black spruce and grey pine seedlings, but today it is well known for its tomato production as well. It must be emphasized that the company is one of the most important enterprises in Quebec of the sort.
It uses cutting-edge technology, and it conducts different experiments with new products, such as potted flowers and seedlings for other agricultural producers. Due to the area it covers, the co-op ranks among the top five greenhouse companies in Québec.
Guided tours are available, but reservations are obligatory.
