Grand-Remous

The municipality of Grand-Remous il located at the north of the Gatineau-Valley, Its name comes after the growls (remous means growls in French) of the Gatineau river in the area. The village is the north gateway to the Gatineau Valley as well as to the Outaouais region.

The village was born in 1937. Today, about 1300 people live here, near its nice rapids of the Rolland Lake, in the Verendrye reserve of the faune.

Grand-Remous is a great destination for people who love nature and it’s an ideal spot to enjoy the wildlife experience, The superb Baskatong reservoir pf 320 square kilometres, located near by, offers many fishing and water-sport opportunities, as well as nice camping areas.

The covered bridge the Savoyard’s, built in the 1931, impresses by its size and interesting architecture. Tourists can walk through kilometres of the local hiking path and admire the region from the Grand-Remous belvedere. And don’t forget to visit the famous Bar Museum of Draveur and Bucheron, located at 18, Dorion Road.

Besides Grand-Remous is famous for it’s hunting and fishing facilities offerd by a number of local enterprises, such as Chez Rainville, Mark Gagnon, Club Bruent, Tawanipi enr and others.
