Rockland Center
Rockland Center is located in the north-eastern part of the town of Mount Royal at the corner of Acadie boulevard and the Metropolitain Expressway. Rockland Center was the first big shopping mall to open in Montreal.
With the total area of more than 73 000 sq. m., it houses many store chains that penetrated Quebec by opening their first outlets in Rockland Center. Rockland Center serves the town of Mount Royal that was designed as an ideal town at the beginning of the 20th century.
The clientele of Rockland Center comes from everywhere on the island. The huge complex of Rockland Center is a clever mix of different materials such as stone, metals, glass and lots of light.
Rockland Center is said to have everything, especially high quality clothes and shoes. The center also houses a dental clinic, dry cleaning, cell phone shops, bookstores, food court with, among others, a sushi counter, restaurants and lots of other stores and services totaling more than 175 retail outlets.
As in any other mall, some boutiques disappear, new ones open and some other ones stay for a long time … (it was our moment of philosophical reflection).
