Centre Eaton
The official opening of this big shopping center in the heart of downtown Montreal was in 1976.
It was called «Les Terrasses» until 1983, when Ernst and Young took control of it and the Montreal Eaton Center was created.
The name of Eaton comes from Eaton store that closed its doors in 1999 because of a bankruptcy.
Today, the Eaton Center is the biggest shopping center of the downtown and has more than 175 shops, restaurants and stalls on the surface of 300 000 sq. ft. The most popular clothes and shoes brands, such as Gap, Jacob, Old Navy, Benetton, Dynamite, Tristan & America, Le Château, Mephisto, as well as many others, can be found there.
This is the most visited shopping center with an incomparable sales volume. There is no doubt that the Eaton Center is the mouthpiece of the latest fashion trends but with no need to spend a fortune. Some 30 fast food counters offer visitors international meals. On 4th floor are located a Tax Free office and a currency exchange counter.
The center is linked to the Montreal underground city and McGill subway station.
The Eaton Center is located at 677, Sainte-Catherine street.
