River Boat Bateau-Mouche
Exploring the city of Montreal aboard a river boat is a unique experience because you plunge into the history of Montreal in a very special way and look at the city from an unexpected angle.
Indeed, thanks to its small draught the Bateau-Mouche (river boat) can take waterways that are inaccessible for traditional boats and thus offer exclusive itineraries. Its name comes from boats built in the Felizate shipyard situated in La Mouche district in the suburbs of Lyon, France. Therefore, this particular kind of excursion boats are called « bateau-mouche ». Every year excursion season opens at the beginning of May and closes mid-October.
All day tours include a light lunch onboard. However, for supper cruises in the evening it’s necessary to have a reservation. Besides regular excursions, the Bateau-Mouche offers special group rates and gift packages are available for all cruises. Note to people with reduced mobility: the Bateau-Mouche can take on board regular wheelchairs but not motorized ones because of their weight. Unfortunately, the upper deck is not wheelchair accessible.
In any case, while making a reservation, please do not forget to mention that you are moving around in a wheelchair, so that our crew could serve you better.
Note to smokers: the Bateau-Mouche tours are non-smoking at any time but it’s possible to smoke on the exterior deck of the boat.
